The second most important Jennifer Aniston news of the week – the actress’ wedding comes in at No. 1, of course – was the star’s new contract to become the face (and hair) of Emirates Airline.
While you’ll have to wait to see Aniston in the Dubai-based airline’s upcoming ad campaigns, the internet is chock-full of commercials featuring celebrities flying the friendly skies to keep you occupied
Kobe Bryant reps Turkish Airlines: The NBA All-star teamed up with, or rather competed against, Argentinian footballer Leo Messi in some questionable cabin behavior during this spot hawking “Europe’s best airline.”
Nicole Kidman reps Etihad Airlines: Kidman’s ad for Etihad drew complaints from the Association of Professional Flight Attendants, because of the company’s treatment of women. While the scandal has died away, the stunning visuals remain.
Jon Hamm reps American Airlines: Don Draper himself lent his voice to AA for this hopeful TV ad that linked up quite nicely with a Mad Men plot at the time.
Henry Winkler reps American Airlines: The Fonz (You kids know him better as Barry Zuckerkorn) looked absolutely delighted to be aboard one of American’s planes featuring a coach-class piano bar. NBC News anchor Chet Huntley may be the narrator, but Winkler steals the show.
James Gandolfini reps American Airlines: The late actor didn’t even need to step foot upon a plane to praise American’s efforts in this video. It turns out all real New Yorkers wanted at the time was a flight out of town on AA.
Wilt Chamberlain reps TWA: Wilt “The Stilt” Chamberlain was tapped to talk leg room, something he knew a thing or two about, in this 70’s promo.
Kevin Spacey reps American Airlines: Mobile boarding passes were a breath of fresh air in the industry, and the subject of this 2011 commercial for AA. The actor shot several commercials for the airline that year.
Carol Channing reps Republic Airlines: The legendary actress took a timeout from Broadway to star in this 1982 commercial boasting complimentary hot towels and champagne breakfast aboard Republic jets.
Kevin Costner reps Turkish Airlines: The 90s superstar photobombed an unsuspecting family while helping Turkish Airlines spread the company’s invitation to come feel like a star aboard its planes.
Farrah Fawcett reps Continental Airlines: Before she made it big beating up bad guys on Charlie’s Angels, and long before she debuted her famous feathery locks, Fawcett kept her hair pulled back like a proper flight attendant for Continental.
Suzanne Somers reps Continental Airlines: Who knew Continental was such a star-maker in its heyday? The queen of home shopping herself played a flight attendant in this 1970’s commercial.
Cristiano Ronaldo & Pelé rep Emirates Airline: The footballers pose for photos and show off their of-the-moment highlights (Looking at you, Ronaldo) in this ad for Emirates called “All-Time Greats.”
